Let’s face it, banana and caramel was a marriage made in heaven. Add chocolate and cream and you’ve got my attention.
As well as being an amazing dish, Banoffee Pie is just so easy to make and looks deliciously inviting with just a few simple decorative finishings.
Give it a go next time you need a dessert that needs no baking….
Here is one my mother used to make. It was such a treat to come home from school to find the smell of baking as we came through the door. The first room to visit was always the kitchen to see if there was a sample to be had.

I have been looking forward to making this one with you. It is a cross between a Dutch Apple Pie and an Apple Strudel. It has a lovely crisp sweet crust base, a crunchy topping and a delicious strudel filling. So it’s a bit of a hybrid.
Hope you enjoy the recipe.....

Oh Frangipane!
Even its name sounds tasty. Frangipane is as I’m sure you know, a little bit like a Bakewell; only a bit though. Do not get this mixed up with your basic supermarket boxed Bakewell Tart. It is so much more scrumptious than that. To start with, the cake is fresh and flavoursome and there is more delightfully sweet cherry jam. To top it all, real cherries give it that extra flavour pop.
This recipe calls for a little brandy. If you like, you can leave it out but there is only a little and this just gives it a good flavour and does not taste boozy.
You will also need to bake the pastry blind so I will give you a few tips about that in the recipe video.
Have a go, you know you want to……
